Signing day is less than a month away. Despite a three-game losing streak, LSU is still expected to sign one of the nation’s top classes.
According to On3, LSU’s class ranks No. 4 nationally. The class has a blue-chip ratio of 73% with 38% of prospects coming from LSU’s home state.
The class is headlined by three five-stars.
QB Bryce Underwood — No. 1 overall recruit
CB DJ Pickett — No. 10 overall recruit
RB Harlem Berry — No. 17 overall recruit
Underwood and Berry are the top-ranked players at their respective positions. The On3 Industry Rankings slate Pickett as the No. 2 overall corner, but On3 and Rivals have him tops at his position.
With three five stars on board, how many will LSU finish with?
Berry signing with LSU is a certainty. The Louisiana native has been locked in with LSU throughout the process.
As for Underwood and Pickett, LSU remains confident, but flips can’t be ruled out. Reports indicate that Michigan and Underwood remain in contact and Pickett is coming off a visit to Georgia.
Underwood and Pickett are five stars being recruited on a national level. With prospects of this caliber, it’s not over until it’s over. But LSU fans shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that they are committed to LSU and Baton Rouge remains the likely destination.
LSU may not need another commitment to add a five-star to the class — LSU could get there with current commits rising.
Cornerback Kade Phillips received a fifth-star from On3 earlier this week and is a top 40 player in the 247Sports rankings too. That gives him a chance to be an industry five-star if he moves up a few spots in the next update.
IOL Carrius Curne is the No. 29 overall…
