When the Alabama Crimson Tide suffered their third loss of the 2024 season Saturday night against the Oklahoma Sooners, it felt like in the moment that the program’s College Football Playoff hopes all went away when the clock struck zero.

However, what if I were to tell you that was not necessarily the case, and that there is still a chance for the Crimson Tide?

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), Alabama still has a 37.7% chance to make the College Football Playoff as of Monday, Nov. 25. ESPN’s FPI also dropped Alabama two spots as a result of their loss at Oklahoma, as the Crimson Tide fell from the nation’s No. 2 to the No. 4 team according to the metric.

To make the CFP, Alabama will certainly have to impress in a win against the Auburn Tigers this upcoming Saturday in the regular season finale, as well as receive a lot of help elsewhere due to now having three losses.

Now yes, Alabama is a favorite over the Tigers at home, but it will certainly not be an easy game by any means against the Crimson Tide’s biggest rival.

While the chances to make the CFP are slim, there is still a way for Alabama with a win Saturday. All the Crimson Tide need to do is defeat Auburn in an impressive way, and then see what happens elsewhere.
