LSU football is no stranger to finding impact players on the transfer market. Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels both won Heismans after transferring to LSU. But the Tigers weren’t that active in the transfer portal last year.

Brian Kelly and staff used it to fill holes, signing players like veteran receiver CJ Daniels and defensive tackle Gio Paez. Daniels and Paez have produced for LSU this year, but the Tigers didn’t add any proven stars in the portal.

That may be different this year. LSU head coach Brian Kelly says the Tigers plan to be aggressive in the portal.

“We’ll be very aggressive,” Kelly said.

“Everybody that’s followed us knows that we weren’t very aggressive in the transfer portal. We put together a defensive line using minimal resources, we really put ourselves in a position, and I’ll use this term loosely, to stay well under the cap so we could be quite aggressive this year.”

Kelly said this year’s transfer class will be one of the largest in his time at LSU.

With the Tigers expected to lose key veterans, LSU will likely seek help at several positions. Expect LSU to look for receivers and offensive linemen. On defense, LSU could use help at safety and linebacker.

On top of LSU’s expected transfer haul, the Tigers will add 16 early enrollees in January.
