Penn State football team’s report card vs. Minnesota

Quarterbacks

B: Drew Allar missed some throws he usually makes, but he made game-winning plays in the second half.

Running backs

B: Nick Singleton accounted for 100 all-purpose yards, 67 and a touchdown on the ground and 33 through the air.

Receivers

A: Tyler Warren caught eight passes for 102 yards, and Harrison Wallace III and Omari Evans combined for six catches for 97 yards and a TD.

Offensive linemen

B: The blockers struggled with Minnesota’s stunts and twists before regrouping and helping the Lions gain 227 yards in the second half.

Defensive linemen

A: Zane Durant played brilliantly with 2.5 tackles for loss and Penn State held Minnesota to 2.9 yards per rush.

Linebackers

A: Kobe King, Tony Rojas and Dominic DeLuca perhaps played their best game as a position group.

Defensive backs

B: The secondary allowed three 23-yard completions, which led to two field goals in the second half. Jaylen Reed made 10 tackles.

Special teams

C: The successful fake punt was offset by an opponent’s first blocked punt since 2018 and the first blocked PAT since 2022.

Coaches

A: James Franklin’s game management in the final six minutes was excellent and outweighed the negatives, especially special teams.
