Texas A&M (8-3, 5-2 SEC) will face its toughest test of the season, as the Aggie’s postseason dreams are literally on the line after losing to Auburn on the road in quadruple overtime in one of the more heartbreaking defeats in program history. Next up, the Aggies will host the No. 3 Texas Longhorns for the first time in 13 seasons.

However, it’s time to move in face what’s in front of them, as a win against the Longhorns would mean the program’s first-ever trip to the SEC Championship game against Georgia. On Monday, head coach Mike Elko spoke to the media ahead of the season finale, reflecting on Saturday’s loss.

At the same time, the focus is completely on the Texas passing game, and the Longhorn’s elite secondary ranked second in the country in passing yards allowed. If the Aggies want to keep up with what could be a high-scoring matchup, QB Marcel Reed and the Aggie passing game will need to have its best game of the year.

Here is everything Mike Elko had to say on Monday ahead of the Lone Star Showdown renewal.

Saturday’s loss to Auburn was indeed disappointing

“A very disappointing Saturday. We did not get the start we hoped for. It’s very challenging when you let the ball go over your head.”
