How did Brent Venables celebrate OU football upset win vs Alabama? Taco Bell, of course

NORMAN — Brent Venables strolled into Rudy’s “Country Store” and Barbecue Monday night to a standing ovation.

Venables, OU’s head football coach who hosts his weekly radio show at Rudy’s in front of a crowd of fans, continued soaking in the Sooners’ Saturday night upset of No. 7 Alabama.

Throughout the past few seasons since being back in town, Venables had spoken to his team about the last time Owen Field was stormed after a win, 2000 after defeating Nebraska. “This is fun tonight,” Venables said Monday night. “We’re still celebrating.”

OU’s dominating 24-3 win over Alabama was an affirmation that maybe what Venables is building is heading in the right direction. “Saturday night was fantastic,” Venables said. “The fans, what a cool moment for everybody. Through a lot of adversity and not winning you felt so bad for the players for everything they had invested, how…
