UT fans nervous after 5-star lineman David Sanders Jr.’s weekend visit to Ohio State

A former All-USA TODAY HSSA Offensive Football Team player might be reconsidering his college choice, and its got Tennessee Vols fans very nervous.

Five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. has been committed to Tennessee for quite a while. But he took a visit to Ohio State this past weekend, according to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman. The Buckeyes are making a late push to flip the big man from Providence Day School (Charlotte, North Carolina).

The early signing period in college football opens on Dec. 4.

This is the time of year that things get messy in college football recruiting. Entering today, Ohio State had the top-rated class in the country, according to ESPN. But the Buckeyes lost a pledge from 4-star defensive end London Merritt, according to ESPN’s Eli Lederman, amid an apparent late push by Colorado.

Landing Sanders would make up for it. Along with being named one of the top high school players in the country by USA Today last year, the 6-foot-6, 250 pound tackle is currently the No. 5 player on the 2025 ESPN 300, and its top-rated offensive lineman.
