The Giants elected not to trade edge rusher Azeez Ojulari ahead of this year’s trade deadline, but it now seems like the 24-year-old may have played his last snap with the team.
According to multiple reports, the Giants are placing Ojulari on IR because of a toe injury. The injury won’t require surgery, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, but the Giants will “exercise caution.”
Landing on IR means that Ojulari will miss at least the next four games, and while he would be eligible to return in Week 17 against Indianapolis, it’s fair to think that Ojulari could miss the remainder of the season.
After bursting onto the scene with 8.0 sacks as a rookie, Ojualri was just never healthy enough to live up to that stellar first season. Overall, he’s recorded 22.0 sacks in 46 games, including 30 starts, with the Giants.
Ojulari’s name was a popular one in trade reports prior to the deadline, but the Giants opted to hold onto him, and he is now headed for free agency at season’s end.
In a corresponding move, the Giants have claimed Denver Broncos tight end Greg Dulcich off waivers, per multiple reports.
A third-round pick out of UCLA in the 2022 draft, Dulcich had a strong rookie season, hauling in 33 passes for 411 yards and two touchdowns. But hamstring issues limited him to just two games last season, and he’d spent the majority of the 2024 campaign as a healthy scratch for Denver.
