The annual battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe between Wisconsin and Minnesota Friday has more at stake than usual.
It’s still a big rivalry, but, for the Badgers, it’s also win or go home before December.
That hasn’t happened in Madison for a while. The Badgers’ streak of 22 years playing in a bowl game is on the line. A loss would give the Badgers just five wins in the 2024 regular season. A team needs six wins to clinch bowl eligibility. A loss means its time to enjoy basketball season.
The Badgers have had four opportunities to win a sixth game this season, but have dropped all four, including an ugly 44-25 loss at Nebraska Saturday.
