NOTHING BUT GREEN: Week 13 high school football picks

Nov. 29—Last Week: 1-0 (100%)

Overall Record: 70-15 (82.4%)

Although all Rogers County football teams have been eliminated from the playoffs, football isn’t done with the area just yet.

This week, Claremore and Catoosa will serve as the epicenter for some of the most pivotal high school football games in Oklahoma. With Claremore hosting both Class 6A-I semifinal games and Catoosa hosting a 6A-II semifinal, Rogers County becomes the stage for championship dreams to be realized — or dashed.

Hosting games of this magnitude is not only a source of pride for the communities but also a chance to showcase some of the best football talent in the state. From powerhouse programs like Bixby and Jenks to emerging contenders like Edmond Memorial, the fields in Rogers County will be filled with elite athletes vying for a shot at glory.

For me, the opportunity to pick these games feels like a fitting continuation of the season.

With the stakes at their highest and the best teams in the state battling it out on Rogers County soil, it is a perfect way to keep the football spirit alive locally — even if the teams we’ve followed all season are no longer in contention.

Plus, there is something special about the atmosphere at this stage of the playoffs.

Whether it is the roar of the crowd, the tension of a one-possession game in the fourth quarter or the unrelenting pursuit of a championship, semifinal football has a unique energy.

And with Claremore’s Lantow Field and Catoosa’s Frank McNabb Field set to host, Rogers County gets to share in that excitement.

Can Jenks complete its revenge tour? Will Bixby maintain its dynastic dominance? Can Stillwater defy the odds and make a third-straight championship appearance?

Only one thing is certain: the stakes have never been higher.

With football still alive in our backyard, let’s dive into these…
