Ball State football is set to face Ohio on the road for the Cardinals’ season finale on Friday.
Ball State (3-8, 2-5 Mid-American Conference) is coming off a 38-13 home loss to Bowling Green in the debut of interim coach Colin Johnson, who took over after Mike Neu was fired on Nov. 16. A loss would send Ball State to its worst finish since going 2-10 in 2017.
Ohio (8-3, 6-1) clinches a spot in the MAC Championship with a win. If Ball State were to pull off an upset, the Bobcats would remain alive but would be counting on a wild series of events involving every other team in the MAC to get in on tiebreakers. It’s essentially win-and-in for Ohio, so Ball State has an opportunity to go on the road and play spoiler to finish a tough season on a high note.
