NORMAN — Jonathan Hatton Jr. committed to OU football nearly 14 months ago.
Now, hours after the Sooners hired Ben Arbuckle as their offensive coordinator, Hatton is reopening his recruitment, he told On3. OU remains in contention for Hatton but he will be surveying his options.
The No. 3 running back nationally and No. 41 player in the 2026 class, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings, holds offers from Alabama, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and others. Hatton plays for Steele High School in San Antonio.
OU also lost commitments from 2025 wide receivers Marcus Harris and Gracen Harris since the regular season concluded.
Head coach Brent Venables seemed to indicate in a statement Monday that running backs coach DeMarco Murray would be returning in 2025. Minutes after Hatton Jr.’s announcement Monday, 2026 four-star running back Brian Bonner announced he’d received an offer from the Sooners.
