Changes could be coming to Ohio State’s offensive line for the College Football Playoff.
Four days after the Buckeyes’ makeshift offensive line was dominated by Michigan in the Wolverines’ 13-10 upset, OSU coach Ryan Day said the team is considering altering its lineup.
“We’re definitely going to contemplate some rolling at the very least,” Day said. “We’ll be looking at it over the next couple of weeks. We probably could have done that in the game and considered that in the game.
“It was a big game and didn’t think it was the right thing to do at the time. But looking back, we should have at least tried something. We will look this week at doing some of that.”
The line has been in flux since left tackle Josh Simmons, who will enter the 2025 draft, suffered a season-ending knee injury against Oregon on Oct. 12. Zen Michalski replaced him and started the next game against Nebraska. He was ineffective and then got hurt at the end of that surprisingly close 21-17 victory.

That prompted the Buckeyes to move All-Big Ten left guard Donovan Jackson from to left tackle, which he hadn’t played since high school. Carson Hinzman, last year’s starting center, was inserted at left guard.
Ohio State Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson (32) gets tackled by Michigan Wolverines defensive end Cameron Brandt (91) during the first quarter of the NCAA football game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.
Then center Seth McLaughlin, who had anchored the line effectively as a grad transfer from Alabama, tore an Achilles tendon in practice Nov. 19.
