FLOWOOD — Ole Miss football quarterback Jaxson Dart said the Conerly Trophy ranks near the top of his list of career awards. Dart won the C Spire Conerly Trophy on Tuesday, awarded to the best football player in Mississippi.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be a part of this group,” Dart said at The Sheraton Hotel. “It’s crazy looking at this list of people who have won this award, and just to be in that prestigious group means the world to me. I’m thankful to all of my teammates and my coaches who put me in this position.”
The three finalists were Dart, Jackson State running back Irv Mulligan and Mississippi State safety Isaac Smith.
Dart is the fourth Ole Miss player to win the award in the last five seasons. He is the 11th Ole Miss player to win the award and the 12th time for the Rebels — more than any other program in the state. The most recent was in 2022 when running back Quinshon Judkins won the award.
Dart ranks fourth in the county in passing yards with 3,875 and has 25 touchdowns on 825-of-1,272 passing with a 64.9 completion percentage. The senior also has 452 rushing with three scores. Dart has been with the Ole Miss program for three years after transferring from USC at the end of the 2021 season.
Dart is now the top passing leader at Ole Miss after breaking Eli Manning’s record in the Egg Bowl last week. He has also moved into the SEC top-10 in all-time passing yards and is the 11th SEC quarterback to surpass 10,000 yards.
