Oregon Signing Day: Ducks land 4-Star TE Vander Ploog

The Oregon Ducks have officially added 4-star tight end recruit Vander Ploog to their 2025 recruiting class. Ploog was a recent addition to the Ducks class, announcing his verbal commitment in November, before inking his letter of intent on Wednesday.

Oregon didn’t extend a scholarship offer to Ploog until August 2024 — very late in the recruiting cycle. Two months before that offer, Ploog announced his verbal commitment to the Washington Huskies, but after several visits with the Ducks this fall, Ploog flipped his commitment to Washington’s chief rival.

Ploog’s 6 feet 6 inch, 223-pound frame strongly resembles the frame of current Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson, who could be one of the top TEs in the NFL draft this spring. Ploog’s skills are several steps behind Ferguson’s, but the potential is there.

Vander Ploog Position Outlook

You never know the impact a true freshman can make before they step on the field, but Oregon is pretty set with Kenyon Sadiq as their starting tight end in 2025, but after that, snaps are up for grabs. If Ploog shines enough in practice before next season, he might carve out a role for himself in next year’s offense.

Oregon Ducks Tight End Depth

For the last four years, Terrance Ferguson has been the Ducks’ go-to tight end, but he’s off to the NFL next season. Ferguson is leaving the starting role in good hands with Kenyon Sadiq, who has been playing spectacular football this season. But behind Sadiq, it’s unclear who will fill in the Ducks’ tight end depth.
