UK’s Kattus a finalist for Pop Warner award

Kentucky tight end Josh Kattus has been named one of four finalists for the 15th annual Pop Warner College Football Award, Pop Warner Little Scholars announced Tuesday.

The Cincinnati native has caught 21 passes for 310 yards and five touchdowns in 33 career games and 15 starts for the Wildcats. This season, he made six receptions for 77 yards and two scores — a 27-yard TD at then-No. 7 Tennessee and a 4-yard score at No. 3 Texas. Kattus also recovered a fumble resulting in a game-winning touchdown at then-No. 6 Ole Miss.

In May, Kattus helped raise more than $34,000 for the Lexington Rotary Club Endowment Fund and Surgery on Sunday, a nonprofit providing free outpatient procedures for those in need, as a participant in the Dancing with the Lexington Stars event. He also regularly visits the Kentucky Children’s Hospital each week with teammates and volunteers at Lexington’s Ronald McDonald House and Scott County Humane Society.

The Pop Warner Little Scholars National College Football Award winner will be announced on Dec. 9 as part of the 67th Pop Warner Super Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
