Former Michigan State QB named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year

ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt (10) looks for a receiver during a game against Wyoming at Mountain America Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024, in Tempe.

Last winter, Sam Leavitt shocked Michigan State football fans when he entered the transfer portal and ultimately committed to Arizona State. While MSU ended up getting the top ranked quarterback in the transfer portal in Aidan Chiles, Leavitt has had a nice year for the Sun Devils, and was named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year this week.

Leavitt threw for 2,444 yards and 21 touchdowns with just five interceptions on the season, leading Arizona State to a 10-2 record and an opportunity to play in the Big 12 Championship.
