Fair Grove and Lamar will meet in a rare all-southwest Missouri clash in the Missouri high school football Class 2 state championship.
The Class 2 MSHSAA Show-Me Bowl is 3 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.
Fair Grove (14-0) is making its first state championship appearance in program history. The Eagles are coming off a 55-21 semifinal win over South Shelby. They are led by star quarterback Spensar Seiger and star running back Kellen Lair. A win would mark the school’s first state championship in a male team sport.
Lamar (10-4) is making its fifth consecutive state championship amid one of the greatest dynasty runs in the state’s history. This will be the Tigers’ 12th championship appearance since 2011, winning nine of their previous appearances. Lamar is led by fifth-year coach Jared Beshore, 29, who played for the Tigers during their first three championships.

Fair Grove and Lamar have a postseason history, as the Tigers have ended six Eagles seasons since 2009. The two haven’t played in the same district the past two years, leading to Fair Grove’s semifinal appearance last year before now reaching the state championship.
