National Signing Day recap: The biggest winners and losers of the early signing period

Every year, surprises come out of the early signing period. This year was no different.

Some teams saw their stock rise significantly following flips and new commitments. Others had their stocks drop when those same players went elsewhere.

Here are three winners and three losers from the early signing period.

Winner: Oregon

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning gathers his team during a timeout as the No. 1 Oregon Ducks host the Washington Huskies Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.

Arguably no one had more success during the Early Signing Period than Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

They had the biggest win of the day flipping long-time five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord away from Ohio State. Another win came in the form of flipping 4-star Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele away from California.

Between all of the flips and commitments they picked up on Wednesday, the Ducks are ranked by most recruiting outlets has having a top-three class this cycle.

Loser: California

As mentioned above, the Golden Bears lost their quarterback of the future to their former Pac-12 rival.

In total it was a brutal cycle for Cal as they finished with only 12 signed players and two who remain committed but haven’t signed yet.

The group as a whole ranks No. 75 in the country according to 247Sports and is second-to-last in the ACC.

Winner: Michigan
