After going 11-1 in the regular season, Texas football has made the Southeastern Conference Championship in its first season out of the Big 12.
To win the title, the Longhorns have to overcome the Bulldogs, who handed them their only regular season loss in Week 8, 30-15. Georgia’s defense put on a dominant performance in Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium, sacking Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers seven times, forcing three fumbles and grabbing an interception.
More: Why Texas football will — and won’t — beat Georgia, win SEC Championship Game
Texas’ offense was a bit of a mess in the teams’ previous matchup. Running back Quintrevion Wisner rushed 15 times for 52 yards while Ewers completed 25 of 43 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. The Longhorns are confident that things will be different this time around after fixing the run game and the offensive line play.
The SEC Championship game will be played in Atlanta, Georgia, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is also the site of this year’s national title game. ESPN’s pregame morning show, College GameDay, will also be making an appearance.
Here are some predictions for the game.
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers (3) throws a pass in the fourth quarter of the Longhorns’ game against the Georgia Bulldogs at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Oct. 19, 2024.
