The Arizona State football senior running back put on quite a show in the first half of the No. 13 Sun Devils Big 12 championship game against No. 16 Iowa State. On his first run of the game, Skattebo broke a couple of tackles and found some green for a 28-yard run. That only set the tone for his first half.

Skattebo finished the first half with 10 rushes for 140 yards and two touchdowns as Arizona State built up a 24-10 halftime lead with a chance to win the conference championship and earn a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoffs. Of the 140 yards, 90 came after contact.
He added a 47-yard run on the third Sun Devils’ drive before capping the drive off with a 3-yard touchdown run. With 1:40 remaining in the half, Skattebo broke a couple more tackles and found the open field for a 53-yard run and capped off the drive with a 2-yard TD run.

Skattebo added 26 more rushing yards on the first Arizona State drive of the second half. On the third possession, he added a four-yard run and then a 33-yard touchdown catch and run. He’s up to 170 rushing yards with 2:57 left in the third quarter. Skattebo also has two grabs for 38 yards and the score.
Former Kansas State and Philadelphia Eagles star Darren Sproles holds the single-game record for rushing yards in a Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma.
