It’s official.
Cocoa High School senior wide receiver Jayvan Boggs is Florida’s new single-game record holder for receiving yards.
Boggs, who signed with Florida State on Wednesday, caught 17 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns against Cardinal Mooney in the Class 2A state semifinals on Friday. Boggs breaks the previous record of 358 yards, set by Lake Nona’s Ryan Sousa in 2013.
“(It’s) crazy to be honest,” Boggs said Saturday morning after the statistics were finalized. “But just blessed.”

Boggs, who had over 200 yards in the first half Friday, caught a 61-yard touchdown pass on the third play from scrimmage. He also touchdown catches of 8 and 24 yards.
With his big night Friday, Boggs 93 catches for 2,020 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He’ll have a chance to break the state’s single-season yardage record in the state championship game against Gadsden County on Thursday afternoon.
The record for yards in a season is 2,159, set by Venice’s Jaivin Heiligh in 2017.
Boggs wasn’t the only Cocoa player to have a notable statistical game Friday.
Senior quarterback Brady Hart, who signed with Texas A&M on Wednesday, completed 32-of-52 passes for a yards. It’s the second time this season that Hart has thrown for 500 yards.
