STILLWATER — Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State officials have agreed on terms of an amended contract that will keep Gundy coaching Cowboys football heading into his 21st season, according to reports.
The terms of the contract were not immediately known. The news was initially reported by PokesReport.com.
The Oklahoma State athletic department had not made an official announcement, but it appears like this will bring an end to a long, angst-filled couple of days for Cowboy football.
The saga began with a special meeting of the Oklahoma A&M College Board of Regents on Friday morning in which Gundy’s contract status was discussed privately in executive session for roughly two hours.
No action was taken at the end of the meeting, but reports later surfaced and The Oklahoman confirmed that Gundy had been offered a restructured contract that included a pay cut and other restrictions.
As a result, Gundy met with athletic director Chad Weiberg and president Kayse Shrum for several hours Friday afternoon and evening. Negotiations on the specifics of the contract continued into Saturday morning.
