Thanks to the huge Friday morning signing of 5-star Georgia DT Justus Terry, the Texas Longhorns have secured the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation according to 247Sports.
247Sports’ composite rankings aggregate the rankings from all four major recruiting services, Rivals, ESPN and On3. The combined rankings gives Texas the top 2025 recruiting class in the nation.
The composite puts Texas ahead of Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Ohio State. Although there will be an additional signing period in February, 247Sports officials said Texas should maintain its No. 1 standing. The overwhelming majority of Power Four recruits have already finalized their college plans this week.
Friday morning, Texas got the final piece of the puzzle in 5-star DT Justus Terry. Terry announced his commitment from Manchester High School in Georgia. Terry is a former USC commit that many felt would stay in-state and sign with the Bulldogs. But Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and staff were able to sell him on moving to Austin.
“We’re super pumped about this recruiting class,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Thursday. “This is a very talented group of players that I think not only fit the physical characteristics of what we’re looking for by position in our program, but I think meet the character and are going to fit nicely into our culture.”
It’s the 17th consecutive season an SEC team has finished with the No. 1 class and the first time the Longhorns have held the honor in the 247Sports era, which started in 2010.
