It’s official: Mizzou is headed to Nashville.
Missouri football will play in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 in Nashville, Tennessee, where the Tigers will take on Iowa. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at Nissan Stadium and will air on ESPN.
Looking at the College Football Playoff field, which was announced Sunday, it doesn’t take too lengthy a leap to assume Missouri was a win away from seriously contending to be one of the 12 teams. Every team with two losses or fewer in the Big Ten and SEC this season is going to play a CFP game in December.
So, what will it take for the Tigers to go a step further in 2025?

On Wednesday, the SEC is expected to announce the specific dates for the Tigers’ 2025 schedule. As a reminder, Mizzou will play each of the SEC teams it played this year, but in the opposite stadiums. So, Missouri will play Vanderbilt, Auburn, Arkansas and Oklahoma on the road, and Mizzou will host Alabama, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Mississippi State.
Mizzou faces Central Arkansas (Aug. 30), Louisiana (Oct. 4), UMass (Oct. 18) and renews its Border War rivalry on the gridiron with Kansas on Sept. 6.
MU has 20 wins since the beginning of the 2023 season. With a win in Nashville over Iowa, the Tigers will have back-to-back double-digit win seasons for just the third time in program history. The proof of concept is there.
So, here is how we think Mizzou can take a step forward in the offseason and make the CFP in 2025:
