OXFORD — Ole Miss’ all-time leader in passing yards, total offense and wins will take the field one last time as the Rebels’ quarterback.
Senior Jaxson Dart announced Monday on social media that he will play in the Gator Bowl against Duke on Jan. 2., where he will try to lead the No. 14 Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC) to their third 10-win season in four years. Dart, who has been Ole Miss’ starting quarterback since transferring from USC prior to the 2022 season, has 27 wins as the Rebels’ starter. His 10,213 passing yards surpassed Eli Manning’s previous record, while his more than 11,500 total yards passed former star Bo Wallace’s previous mark.
Dart is one of several senior players who has announced he will play in the Gator Bowl, joining cornerback Trey Amos, safety Tre Washington and wide receiver Jordan Watkins.
Dart leads the nation in total offense at 360.6 yards per game, is fourth nationally with 3,875 passing yards and is second in passing efficiency. His 25 touchdown passes are tied for third in the SEC, and his 452 rushing yards are the second-highest total of his career.
Dart was one of the catalysts behind Ole Miss’ program-best 11 wins in 2023 and was a major reason the Rebels were a preseason favorite to make the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field. He threw for 379 yards and had four total touchdowns in the Rebels’ 38-25 win over Penn State in the Peach Bowl.
Despite not having top receiver Tre Harris for nearly half the season, Dart had seven games with at least 300 passing yards in 2024, including a program-record 515 yards at Arkansas. His six touchdown passes in the game tied the Rebels’ single-game record. He won this year’s Conerly Trophy, given annually to the top college football player in Mississippi.
