Giants CB Tre Hawkins fractures lumbar spine

Giants cornerback Tre Hawkins fractured his lumbar spine Sunday, Dan Duggan of TheAthletic.com.

Hawkins is out for the season.

He made his fourth career start and first of the season, finishing with six tackles and making the team’s first interception since Week 1.

Coach Brian Daboll did not mention Hawkins’ injury Monday.

It’s another injury at a position hit hard by injuries. Starters Deonte Banks (rib) and Cor’Dale Flott (knee) did not play in the loss to the Saints, with Banks inactive and Flott active but held out.
