Ahead of the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan, Kalen DeBoer feels the culture of Alabama football is “in a good place.”
It’s a Crimson Tide program, he said, that has taken pride in its path, how it stayed the course, how it stuck together through the highs and the lows.
And as Alabama prepares for its final game of 2024 against Michigan on Dec. 31, DeBoer said that culture remains.
“There are leaders, and those leaders expressed nothing but positive things as far as moving forward, whether it’s guys that are, you know, kind of on the back end of their career or just guys that are going to be important for us moving forward — same roles or even bigger roles,” DeBoer said.
Over the course of ReliaQuest Bowl preparation, many of those roles will be decided for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama’s starting defensive line against Michigan may not look entirely different from what it was in the regular season, with Jah-Marien Latham and Tim Smith each heading into their final games with the Crimson Tide. But it’s what the Crimson Tide does when players like Latham, Smith or even LT Overton, who has appeared on many 2025 NFL mock draft boards, are off the field.
