It used to be that you knew years in advance when and where Michigan football would be playing, but with the new, expanded Big Ten, now only the nonconference slate is fully known. Yes, the Wolverines know who their opponents would be in advance, but not when they fall on the schedule.
But now we know what the 2025 schedule for Michigan football will look like.
The Big Ten revealed its full 2025 slate on Tuesday and though the Wolverines have an interesting schedule, it doesn’t look quite as daunting as the 2024 schedule did in terms of top teams. Of course, things can change year-over-year (no one expected Michigan to lose to what ended up being a ranked Illinois team this time last year) and though there are more road games, 2025 has a lot of promise.
Here is the full schedule.
Week 1: New Mexico Lobos (Aug. 30)

Week 1 kicks off in August again, just as it had this year, in a nonconference game against a mediocre New Mexico team that is currently without a head coach. Bronco Mendenhall departed the Lobos for Utah State, so the first game for a new head coach will be at The Big House.
Week 2: at Oklahoma Sooners (Sept. 6)

Of course, this one was known, that the Wolverines would be traveling to Norman in Week 2. Oklahoma had a similar season to the maize and blue but also trounced Michigan’s ReliaQuest Bowl opponent, Alabama, which had thought it was College Football Playoff-bound this year. Regardless, this should be an intriguing matchup. Michigan and Oklahoma have only faced off once before, in 1976 in the Orange Bowl — a game that the Sooners won.
Week 3: Central Michigan (Sept. 13)
