What transfer portal targets could be LSU football roster fits?

BATON ROUGE — The NCAA transfer portal’s gates swung open earlier this week, as hundreds of college football players officially entered their names into the fray.

LSU football has been one of the main actors to monitor in the early going of this open window as coach Brian Kelly has said that LSU would be “very aggressive” in seeking transfers that would fit what the team needs.

A few offers have been extended and there are some other players to watch for as the Tigers hunt for which players could help them get better over the offseason.

Here are 11 targets and names for LSU we’re hearing early on during the open transfer portal window.

WR Nic Anderson, Oklahoma

Anderson is one of LSU’s top targets thus far in the portal. Per the 247Sports, the big, physical 6-foot-4, 216-pound wide out is the second-best receiver available in the transfer portal and per reports is choosing between the Tigers, Florida and Ole Miss. Anderson was at Oklahoma for three years, really only playing one season as he redshirted followed by a breakout season in 2023 with 10 receiving touchdowns before suffering a season-ending leg injury in the first games this year.

TE Zach Atkins, Northwest Missouri State

Atkins is considered the ninth best tight end transfer in the portal. The former Northwest Missouri State product is 6-4, 245 and has been a name that swirled around for LSU. He’s already taken a visit to Ole Miss and is expected to visit South Carolina as well. LSU offered Atkins, who is more known as a blocking tight end.
