Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown underwent an MRI on Tuesday. It delivered even more bad news.
Overshown tore the ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee on Monday night, Todd Archer of ESPN reports. The second-year player will undergo surgery this week.
His 2025 season is in jeopardy with three of the four ligaments in his knee requiring repair. It’s essentially a knee dislocation and usually requires more than one surgery, and the rehab is longer than an ACL tear with no other ligament damage.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan that he had no timeline for Overshown’s recovery post-surgery.
“I don’t know at this time the time-date on his rehab,” Jones said earlier Tuesday, “but I just can’t tell you how bad I feel for him because he’s just been through that mental and physical rehab on his other knee. . . . It’s the toughest time for a player, and we all see the loss and know what it’s going to mean for us in our remaining four games. Bottom line is it’s really sad that he’s having to have this surgery for him as an individual and obviously us as a team.”
Overshown’s teammates, including Micah Parsons, were heartbroken for him after the game knowing what he overcame to return for this season. Overshown missed all of his 2023 rookie season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
The Cowboys’ second-leading tackler will become the 13th Cowboys player to land on injured reserve.
