Yetur Gross-Matos named the NFC defensive player of the week

The 49ers ended a three-game losing streak against the Bears last Sunday and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos had a hand in getting them back on the winning side.

Gross-Matos sacked Bears quarterback Caleb Williams three times during the 38-13 win. The three sacks were a single-game high for Gross-Matos and he was credited with four overall tackles in the win.

The NFL announced that Gross-Matos has been named the NFC defensive player of the week in recognition of that effort. It’s the first time he’s ever taken that prize.

Gross-Matos missed time while on injured reserve earlier this year and has 15 tackles and four sacks in seven appearances.
