The ruthlessness of Florida’s football schedule isn’t lessening next fall. Only the order of the murderer’s row is changing.
The SEC announced its conference slate Wednesday evening, revealing some mild shakeups to the Gators’ league slate.
Example: Tennessee, for years a mid-September foe, travels to Gainesville on Nov. 22 in UF’s final conference game. It marks the latest the teams have met in a season since 2001, when their Sept. 15 game was moved to Dec. 1 due to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Similarly, LSU — normally a mid-October foe — hosts the Gators on Sept. 13 in Florida’s SEC opener.
Perhaps the most daunting part of Florida’s slate will be a five-weekend stretch that features the trip to LSU along with Miami (away, Sept. 20), Texas (home, Oct. 4) and Texas A&M (away, Oct. 11). The Georgia clash in Jacksonville is set for Nov. 1.
Florida opens its season at home against Long Island University on Aug. 30 and hosts USF the following weekend.
Kickoff times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
