Names had already been tossed in, but the NCAA football transfer portal officially opened on Dec. 9 and will close on Dec. 28 before a spring window opens in April.
Recruitment from the transfer portal is off and running with the opening. Here is a list of local athletes that have put their names in the transfer portal with hopes of finding new teams.

Cincinnati locals in the college football transfer portal
Koy Beasley (La Salle High School), Purdue University
Beasley, a four-star recruit by 247Sports last year, Beasley is in the portal after the Boilermakers went 1-11 and fired head coach Ryan Walters. Beasley didn’t accumulate any stats while getting time in a pair of games.
Sterling Berkhalter (Princeton High School), University of Cincinnati
A redshirt junior for the Bearcats, Berkhalter came to Cincinnati last year as a transfer from North Carolina A&T. The wide receiver had 11 catches for 191 yards and had two catches for 70 yards and a touchdown in Cincinnati’s season opener.
Javion Bostic (Winton Woods), University of Toledo
The Winton Woods grad redshirted as a freshman in 2023 and hits the portal with three more years of eligibility left.
Jay’Quan Bostic (Taft), University of Toledo
Bostic was a three-star safety out of Taft last year before going to Toledo this season.
Cameron Calhoun (Winton Woods), University of Utah
Calhoun was a top recruit in Ohio coming out of Winton Woods in the 2023 class. He played in a pair of games for Michigan before transferring to Utah this season where he played in 11 games with 21 tackles, an interception and nine pass breakups.
247Sports has the cornerback as a four-star transfer recruit and the No. 4 corner in the portal.
