Jacobian Morgan injury update: Jackson State starting QB’s status for Celebration Bowl

ATLANTA — Jackson State football will have its starting quarterback for the Celebration Bowl.

Jacobian Morgan will be available and starting for the Tigers, coach TC Taylor announced Friday.

“It’ll be Jacobian,” Taylor said when asked who the starting quarterback will be. “He’s healthy.”

Jackson State (11-2) plays South Carolina State (9-2) on Saturday (11 a.m., ABC) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. A win would be Jackson State’s first in the Celebration Bowl after back-to-back losses under previous coach Deion Sanders in 2021 and 2022.

Jacobian Morgan injury update

There was uncertainty surrounding Morgan’s status after the junior exited last Saturday’s SWAC championship game in the second quarter and did not return. Taylor did not have an update on Morgan’s status on Sunday. Morgan’s exact injury was never revealed.

Who is Jacobian Morgan’s backup on Jackson State depth chart?

Jackson State has had attrition at quarterback this season, but it hasn’t affected the results. When Morgan hasn’t played, it’s relied on either Zy McDonald or Cam’Ron McCoy. McDonald replaced Morgan in the SWAC championship game and helped spark the Tigers score 24 consecutive points.
