Latest transfer portal news for UNC football after Bill Belichick hire

It’s official. North Carolina has hired the legendary Bill Belichick as their new head coach after moving on from Mack Brown following this past season. After days of negotiations, Belichick and the program agreed to the deal, giving him five years with three of those years guaranteed.

It’s a new era of UNC football under Belichick and the program is the talk of the college football world.

But as Belichick is getting set for his first day on the job including an introductory press conference on Thursday, recruits are already taking notice. And UNC is active in the transfer portal.

Already, the Tar Heels have reached out to some top recruits and have set up visits for prospects. As the days go on and the offseason goes on, there will be more. But we wanted to track all of the portal involvement in the Belichick era:

OFFER: DL Raishein Thomas (Northern Illinois)

North Carolina has offered defensive lineman Raishein Thomas out of Northern Illinois.

OFFER: DL David Oke (Abilene Christian)

North Carolina has offered another defensive lineman, this time it’s David Oke out of Abilene Christian.

VISIT: DL Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (Texas A&M)

North Carolina will host former Texas A&M defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy. He has visits set to Vanderbilt and South Carolina already. He also will visit Alabama.

VISIT: RB AJ Turner (Marshall)

With Marshall’s head coach leaving after a successful season, their entire roster is essentially in the transfer portal. And now North Carolina will get a visit from running back AJ Turner. He will also visit Minnesota.

Marshall running back transfer AJ Turner is set to visit Minnesota this weekend and will then visit Bill Belichick-led North Carolina, his agency @bzsportsmgmt tells @chris_hummer and me.
