13 transfers Michigan football is in on or should keep an eye on

Some expected some quick action and fireworks for Michigan football in the transfer portal as it opened on Monday last week, yet, it’s been something of a slow churn. Though many fans are impatiently waiting for many top targets to commit, there are very few players in the portal who the Wolverines covet who have committed anywhere. Plus, there are more and more players continuing to add themselves into the portal, some who are still taking visits, and the maize and blue are still identifying targets that can help out as soon as this upcoming year.

With that in mind, here are some targets who either Michigan reportedly does have interest in or that the Wolverines should take a look at.

QB Billy Edwards Jr. (Maryland)

247Sports transfer ranking: 3-star, No. 146 overall, 19th QB

2024 stats: 2,881 yards, 15 TD, 9 INT

The likeliest target on the list, Edwards entered the transfer portal late last week and quickly picked up a couple of predictions that he’ll end up in Ann Arbor. Expected to compete with Bryce Underwood, Edwards would be a solid bridge prospect for the Wolverines as they work to bring Underwood along in his first season. Edwards’ ability to run the ball as well as his touch on deep passes are perfect complements to that which new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey likes to run.

RB Justice Haynes (Alabama)
