BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana football team didn’t land in the College Football Playoff by accident.
The Hoosiers (11-1; 8-1 Big Ten) put up gaudy numbers throughout the year and closed out the season with a top 25 offense and defense. Notre Dame’s put up some impressive numbers as well and do have some advantage in some key areas.

Indiana’s offense made a vast improvement from 2023 when it averaged 22.2 points and 332.8 yards per game. The Hoosiers set a school record with 69 offensive touchdowns this season (most in the FBS). It was the program’s most productive offense since averaging 504.3 yards in 2015. Notre Dame’s offense is averaging the second most points per game in team history — the record belongs to the 1912 team that averaged 48.6 points per game — and they are averaging the third most yards per play (6.7 yards).
