20 Peoria area players, coaches picked for 2025 Shrine high school football all-star game

Farmington senior quarterback Lane Wheelwright highlights the 20 Peoria-area high school football players expected to participate in the 2025 Illinois Coaches Association Shrine All-Star Game.

The 2024 Journal Star football player of the year is set to participate in the 51st event scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington.

Wheelwright is one of 12 local players on the Blue team along with Jake Williams (Princeville), Payton Thompson (Monmouth-Roseville), Avery Grebner (Metamora), Amare Breedlove (Manual), Cole Rinkenberger (Morton), Hudson Nutter (Pekin), Sean Glover (Richwoods), Alejandro Duarte (Kewanee), Ryan Kelsey (El Paso-Gridley), Andres Medina (LaSalle-Peru) and Cade Odell (Princeton).

There are eight area players on the Red team. Talan Hull (ROWVA/Williamsfield), Caden Mowen (Farmington), Dominic Ricconi (El Paso-Gridley), Connor Liescheidt (East Peoria), Landon Cowper (Metamora), Dillon Ketelsen-Anton (Annawan/Wethersfield), Tory Kupferschmid (Eureka) and Bo Windish (Elmwood/Brimfield) will all be playing.
