FSU football adding coaches with Florida ties offers recruiting advantages. Here’s why

Recruiting players across the state was never an issue for Florida State football.

However, Mike Norvell’s addition of more coaches from the Sunshine State could give the Seminoles the upper hand when the assistants are on the recruiting trail.

From South Florida to the Big Bend, Norvell now has a coaching staff who can cover enough ground based on their background as native Floridians.

Safeties coach Evan Cooper and wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. are from Miami, one of the state’s hotbeds, and have experience recruiting players from that area.

FSU will also have Tallahassee native Devin Rispress on staff, a familiar, respected face that can recruit the top prospects in the Big Bend area and convince them to stay close to home.

Norvell may downplay the connections simply because he’s looking for the right players.

During the signing period, FSU signed 19 recruits for the 2025 class – 10 from Sunshine State.

Harris has seen both ends of the recruiting…
