Dec. 18—GRAND FORKS — Six area football players were selected to the Minnesota 9-man all-state football team as selected by the Minnesota 9-man football coaches.
State champion Fertile-Beltrami led the way with three selections: Isaiah Wright, Jonah Harstad and Caleb Stoltman.
Other area selections were Stephen-Argyle’s Blaine Smith, Kittson County Central Ty Vig and Goodridge-Grygla’s Gavin Aune.
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo’s Kaden Pierce was an honorable mention choice.
Isaiah Wright, a 6-foot, 195-pound senior running back, finished his prep career with 6,201 yards and 95 touchdowns.
He also had 956 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.
In 2024, Wright scored 43 touchdowns and ran for 2,591 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Wright also had 42 tackles on defense and three interceptions. For his career, Wright had eight interceptions including three returned for touchdowns.
Harstad, a 5-10, 210-pound senior fullback-linebacker, ran for 1,286 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2024. On defense, Harstad had 58 tackles and two interceptions.
Stoltman, a 5-10, 230-pound senior guard and defensive end, was the lead blocker for Wright’s historic season. On defense, he had 66 tackles and two forced fumbles.
Vig, a 6-6, 205-pound wing and defensive end, had 16 catches for 208 yards and touchdowns. On defense, Vig had 68 tackles (40 solo) and 19.0 tackles for loss. Vig, who’s signed to play at UND, has 43.5 career tackles for loss.
Smith, a 5-11, 195-pound running back, quarterback and linebacker, ran 260 times for 1,946 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024.
Smith is committed to play at Mayville State next season.
Aune, a 6-5, 290-pound senior, is an offensive and defensive linemen for Goodridge-Grygla. He led an offense that has run for more than 2,000 yards each of the last two seasons.
