Malik Nabers: If I can put my name in the record book, I’m going to do it

It has been a miserable season for the Giants as a team, but wide receiver Malik Nabers has a chance to earn some individual glory in the final weeks of the year.

Nabers enters Week 16 needing two catches to set a Giants record for receptions by a rookie and he’s 15 catches behind the NFL record Rams wideout Puka Nacua set — Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers also has 90 catches this year — for rookie receptions last year. On Wednesday, Nabers said he’s “keeping track” of where he stands on those lists and that the records stand as meaningful goals for him.

“They just all do,” Nabers said, via a transcript from the team. “If I can put my name in the record books, I’m going to do it.”

Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy could also become the first pair of rookie teammates to post more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage since Reggie Bush and Marques Colston did it for the Saints in 2006. Their success provides some reason for hope amid a bleak present for the Giants.
