Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt has already shown he’s all in with the Sun Devils football program.
Earlier this month he indicated sales from his merchandise are being redirected into the Sun Angel collective so his teammates would benefit. Now, the freshman signal-caller is helping out his offensive line.
Arby’s has signed deals with eight ASU offensive linemen at the urging of the freshman quarterback. That group includes Leif Fautanu, Ben Coleman, Max Iheanachor, Josh Atkins, Emmit Bohle, Cade Briggs, Sean Na’a and Makua Pule.
ASU offensive lineman Leif Fautanu (center) and running back Cam Skattebo celebrate by lifting the Big 12 Championship trophy after arriving home to their field during the Open State Championship game at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on Dec. 7, 2024.
The deals happened after the new “Thighsman Award” was unveiled, given to an honoree who plays in the trenches and awarded by football legend Joe Theismann in a partnership with Arby’s. The initial Thighsman Award was given to Michigan’s Mason Graham. Arby’s also announced it would provide NIL deals to 100 additional lineman.
Leavitt reached out to Arby’s to ask that his linemen be recognized as Thighsman honorees.
“We don’t make the playoffs without our offensive line. These guys bring it every week so that our entire offense can be successful,” Leavitt said. “When I heard about Arby’s program, I reached out to nominate my guys as Thighsman honorees. They power the game every week and deserve to be recognized.”
The Sun Devils are preparing for a Jan. 1 date in the Peach Bowl against either Clemson or Texas. ASU (11-2) earned that berth with a 45-19 win over Iowa State in the Big 12 championship game.
