North Carolina adds former Alabama offensive tackle

.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are red hot on the recruiting trail with transfer portal additions. On Thursday, the Tar Heels earned three commitments from three players in the transfer portal.

And the latest one comes from a former SEC offensive tackle.

After picking up a commitment from Michigan kicker Adam Samaha and East Carolina defensive tackle C.J. Mims, the Tar Heels have a new offensive tackle with the commitment of Miles McVay. The former Alabama offensive tackle has three years of eligibility left and committed while visiting UNC’s campus on Thursday.

The former four-star offensive tackle hails out of East Saint Louis, Illinois and played right and left tackle for the Crimson Tide a year ago. He also had a visit scheduled to Syracuse but has since canceled with his commitment to Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels.

North Carolina has prioritized the offensive and defensive lines in the transfer portal as Belichick wants to build in the trenches. Both of those areas were a struggle for UNC a year ago and with some players leaving, they need to overhaul the roster.

Coming out of high school, McVay was ranked as the  No. 196 prospect and No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation.
