Receivers coach makes it another former UNLV staffer now with Purdue football

WEST LAFAYETTE − Cornell Ford makes another member of UNLV’s coaching staff who’ll be with Purdue football in 2025.

Barry Odom, who already lured former Rebels defensive coordinator Mike Scherer and special teams coordinator James Shibest to the same positions in West Lafayette, now has brought over UNLV’s receivers coach, and shortly after announced Vance Vice, formerly UNLV’s offensive line coach was coming to Purdue, too.

Ford played at Toledo before getting his coaching start as a graduate assistant at his alma mater and later returned to the Rockets for two separate stints.

In between those years with Toledo, Ford coached cornerbacks at Missouri while Odom was the program’s defensive coordinator and shifted to assistant head coach and handled running backs while Odom was Missouri’s head coach from 2016-19.
