ARLINGTON — The UIL Class 3A Division I was headlined by a star-studded group of college football prospects.
In addition to Wyoming signee Grayson Rigdon, who notched four rushing touchdowns, cousins Adam and John Schobel both logged incredible performances. Adam Schobel earned the game’s offensive MVP award, while John Schobel was named the contest’s defensive MVP.

John finished the game with 10 tackles and three sacks while Adam completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 261 yards and a touchdown. The senior quarterback also added 37 yards rushing and another score on the ground.
Adam Schobel is a four-star prospect, rated the No. 200 overall player and No. 16 quarterback in the country, according to 247Sports. John Schobel is ranked as a three-star recruit, listed as the No. 93 player in Texas, per 247Sports.

Both of the Schobel cousins are heading to play football at TCU next season after impressive high school careers. Adam flipped his committed from Oklahoma State to the Horned Frogs on July 29.
Columbus is coached by Adam’s father, Matt Schobel, who played at TCU from 1999-2001 before a seven-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles. John’s father, Aaron Schobel, played for the Horned Frogs from 1997-2000 before a nine-year career with the Buffalo Bills.
