The No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will try to avenge a loss to Michigan from their regular-season finale when they host the No. 9 seed Tennessee Vols in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday night. Ohio State had only lost one game prior to its setback against the Wolverines, which came in a 32-31 final against then-No. 3 Oregon. The Buckeyes took down a pair of top-five opponents during the regular season, beating then-No. 3 Penn State and then-No. 5 Indiana.
Tennessee lost a pair of road games to Arkansas and then-No. 12 Georgia during the regular season, but it closed the campaign with blowout wins over UTEP and Vanderbilt to clinch a CFP spot. The Vols also beat three ranked opponents this season, but they are 7-point underdogs in the College Football Playoff odds. Saturday night’s total is 47, which is the second-lowest total of any Tennessee game this season.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET in the final first-round College Football Playoff game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. The temperature will be below freezing throughout the evening on Saturday night, which could play a role in College Football Playoff bets.
