When Mel Tucker took over the Michigan State football program in 2020, he poached Scottie Hazelton from Kansas State to be his defensive coordinator. Hazelton lasted all four seasons with the Spartans, but was not retained by the new staff.
In the first year after being let go from East Lansing, Hazelton latched on to Steve Sarkisian’s staff at Texas as a special assistant to the head coach. Now, it appears Hazelton has a new power conference defensive job.
New Wake Forest head coach Jake Dickert is targeting Hazelton to be his defensive coordinator with the Demon Deacons.
This will be a solid landing spot for Hazelton as he gets back into power conference coordinating.
