Clemson football’s season ended with a loss to 5 seed Texas in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday.
Even after that defeat, the Southeastern Conference wasn’t done with the Tigers.
The SEC’s official X account (formerly Twitter) took a shot at Dabo Swinney and Clemson following the Tigers’ fourth and final loss of the year. As noted by the account, three of those defeats came at the hands of SEC opponents, with Clemson going 0-3 vs. the conference:

“Swept ’em,” the tweet was captioned:
Texas jumped out to a 21-point lead over the Tigers on Saturday and, despite Clemson getting to within a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Longhorns pulled out the 38-24 win to send Swinney and his ACC championship team home for the season.
Georgia — which defeated Texas to win the SEC championship and earn a first-round bye in the playoffs ― opened the season with a 34-3 shellacking of the Tigers. Rival South Carolina downed them 17-14 to end the regular season.
Georgia will open its playoff berth in the Sugar Bowl, where it will face 7 seed Notre Dame. Texas, with its win, advances to the Peach Bowl to take on 4 seed Arizona State, champion of the Big 12. While South Carolina was not among the final CFP teams, the Gamecocks will finish their season against Illinois in the Citrus Bowl with a chance to win 10 games.
Clemson and the ACC, meanwhile, had a rough day: Both the Tigers and SMU, the ACC title game participants, were knocked out of contention. The Mustangs, in particular, were a sore spot for the SEC, as they got the final spot over Alabama in the final CFP bracket reveal. They were soundly beaten by Penn State, 38-10.
Whether that had any bearing on Saturday’s tweet is unknown. But if it did, then it should come…
