Less than 48 hours after hoisting a faux treasure chest awarded to the Gasparilla Bowl champion, Billy Napier landed an even more coveted cache.
Five-star recruit Dallas Wilson, a Tampa Bay Tech receiver who initially signed with Oregon, signed with Florida upon a weekend visit to Gainesville.
Wilson, who caught 41 passes for 677 yards and nine touchdowns at Tampa Bay Tech this past season, is the nation’s No. 19 prospect overall and No. 2 receiver in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s No. 39 on the ESPN 300 rankings for the Class of 2025.
Wilson initially committed to Oregon in January 2023, but his mother died later that year. Now, his grandmother has an illness that contributed to his decision to ask for his release from the Ducks and play closer to home.
He joins a freshman class laden with promising receivers, all of whom should immediately contend for spots in the rotation. Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike, the team’s top two receivers in 2024 (81 combined catches), are outgoing seniors.
Wilson finished his Tampa Bay Tech career with 130 catches for a school-record 2,423 yards and 28 touchdowns.
